Maryland American Water is your local water company.

Our lives revolve around water. It’s somehow involved in everything thing we do, everything we use. We are experts in water and wastewater treatment and delivery.

In Maryland, we serve about 20,000 people, supplying high quality water service. We abide by regulations, invest in our vast infrastructure, educate our customers on wise water use, and help out where we can in our cities and towns.

Because water is such an integral part of life, we take pride in taking care of it.

In Maryland, all of our operations are regulated utilities. The Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) sets rules and we carefully follow them. Those regulations are what help to ensure everyone is receiving high quality water at a fair price. All increases in service rates are directly related to the cost of providing high quality service and are subjected to a public review process and approval by the PSC.

Maryland American Water follows strict regulations created by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and enforced by the Maryland Department of the Environment that help to provide high quality drinking water. Because we work in cooperation with the USEPA to help in the development of national drinking water standards, we are often years ahead of the industry in implementing regulations.

Maryland American Water is committed to delivering high quality water to all of our customers. In Maryland, we conduct about 5,600 tests per year for about 100 potential contaminants, checking drinking water quality at every stage of the water treatment and delivery process.
